Dandelions and Cranberries

I love Meyer Lemons and I put them in many of my smoothies. They are a cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange. In the early 1900′s they came to the United States of America from China. They were named after Frank Meyer who introduced them to the States. After they were banned in the early 1940′s to protect against viral spreading, they were reintroduced in 1973, when a new virus-free Meyer lemon tree was created.

They are high in vitamin C, but do not add a lot of other nutrients. What they lack in nutrition however they add in flavour. Try them out and enjoy the spark they add to your smoothie

  • ½ cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • ½ Meyer Lemon
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • ½ orange
  • Up to 2 cups of Dandelions  (baby spinach or a combination of both)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)

Blend all ingredients for up to 1 minute.

If you have never used any dandelions in your smoothies, start slowly. You can always add more, it is harder to take some out if it is already blended
