Purple Dandelion Smoothie

Dandelions have a slightly bitter taste. To minimize that bitter flavour pick dandelion greens when the flowers have not come yet.  Another way of getting past the bitter flavour is by picking strong tasting fruits to accompany the greens. If these fruits are not in season a good idea is to use frozen ones.

Always start with a little handful of greens and taste. You can always add more, it is harder to take them out when you don’t like the flavour

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup cherries
  • 2 medjool dates (seed removed)
  • Bunch of dandelions to taste
  • Add spinach if needed to make up for the greens (optional)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a high powered blender like the Vitamix or your normal kitchen blender and process until desired consistency.

If you are brave you can leave out the spinach and use more dandelions
